How do I find a word anywhere in my project?
The Search panel looks through every chapter, note, outline, research note and Codex entry, and opens the one you pick right at the match.
Steps
Click the magnifier in the activity bar, or press ⇧⌘F / Ctrl+Shift+F.
Type the word or phrase. Results appear as you type: Codex entries first, then each file with its number of matches.
The toggles beside the box narrow the search. Narrow it with the toggles under the box: Aa matches capitals exactly, \b matches whole words only, and .* lets you use a pattern.
Tick Search inside earlier drafts if you want older drafts searched too.
Click a result line. The file opens with the match selected.
Clicking a result takes you straight to the match. To search only the chapter in front of you, use Edit ▸ Find (⌘F / Ctrl+F) instead.
Click a screenshot to see it larger, then use the arrow keys to step through them.
Check it worked
- The number of results matches what you expect for a distinctive word.
- Each result opens at the right place.
