Who can use a family license?

You and family members who live in the same household can use PugWriter under one license. Each of you can work on your own projects, including at the same time. Your license covers personal and professional writing.

Family members living in another household need their own license. A family license does not cover sharing with friends, coworkers, a classroom, or an organization. Please contact us about use across a team or institution.

How many computers are included?

All of them. There is no fixed computer limit for your family license. Install PugWriter on the computers you and your household family members own and use. Replacing a computer or using both a laptop and a desktop does not require another purchase.

Does one license cover every desktop platform?

Yes. macOS, Windows, and Linux are all included. You can mix platforms within your household or switch platforms without buying another license. Use a supported operating-system version for the installer you choose.

Do I pay again for updates?

Your $99 USD purchase is a perpetual license for PugWriter Desktop version 1. It has no renewal fee, and all updates released within version 1 are included.

When version 2 is released, version 1 owners will be offered a reduced upgrade price compared with buying a new license. We will announce that price before the upgrade is available. Upgrading is your choice: you can keep using your licensed version 1 without purchasing version 2.

A perpetual license does not promise compatibility with every future operating system. Activation and periodic license checks still apply. Optional online services and hosted AI are separate products and are not included subscriptions.

How does activation work?

Professional licenses are purchased. Creator licenses are complimentary creator or partner grants, and Alpha licenses are complimentary tester grants. All three have the same perpetual desktop rights; Creator and Alpha licenses keep those rights after testing ends.

The purchaser manages the license through verified email sign-in using the email associated with the purchase. There is no license key to type. The purchaser can authorize activation on eligible household computers without giving anyone access to their email account.

Internet access is required for sign-in, activation, and periodic license checks. After a successful check, an activated license can work offline for up to ten days. PugWriter checks again after seven days; if it cannot refresh, it shows how much time remains to reconnect before editing pauses. Your manuscripts and project files stay on your computer.

Can I try PugWriter first?
