How do I connect characters, places and other Codex entries?
Link entries so you can see who is related to whom and where people live or belong, from either entry's page.
Before you start
- At least two Codex entries, for example a character and a place. The sample project already has several.
Steps
Open a character from the Codex section of the sidebar.
On the Profile tab, use a field that points to another entry. For example, set Home / base to a place. The place appears as a chip above the field.
A field like Home / base links the character to a place. Click the Connections tab, then press + Add relationship.
Under Who?, choose the other entry. Under Relationship, click a suggestion or type one and press Return. The line at the top reads it back, for example “Wren is Ada Marsh’s sister”.
Leave Also add the other side to …’s page ticked to write the reverse on the other entry too. Press Add relationship.
Check the readback line before you add it. The Connections tab now lists the relationship under Relationships, and the field link under Links from here.
Both kinds of link show on the Connections tab.
Click a screenshot to see it larger, then use the arrow keys to step through them.
Check it worked
- Open the other entry (here, Wren or Gull Point) and look at its Connections tab. The relationship or link should show there too.
