How do I bring back an earlier version of a chapter?
PugWriter keeps recovery points of your project as you write, so you can read a chapter as it was and bring back one passage or the whole thing.
Before you start
- If you're only trying this out, use a copy of your project.
Steps
Open the chapter.
Right-click its tab and choose View History. You can also right-click the chapter in the sidebar, or press the clock button at the right end of the tab strip.
View History is on the tab's right-click menu. Pick a recovery point from the History list on the left. The middle pane shows the text as it was then, and the right pane shows the text now. Changed passages are shaded.
Red is the earlier text, green is what you have now. The arrow brings a passage back. To bring back one passage, click the arrow between the panes beside it.
Press Apply changes to save it into the chapter.
Apply changes saves the passages you brought back. To go back to the earlier text completely, press Restore this whole document… instead and confirm.
Nothing is lost: the text you replaced becomes a recovery point of its own, so you can change your mind later.
Click a screenshot to see it larger, then use the arrow keys to step through them.
Check it worked
- Open the chapter again and read the passage you brought back.
- Open View History again and check that a newer recovery point holds the text you replaced.
